SEA CADETS EXMOUTH

The Sea Cadets were looking to replace their aging, existing, premises in accordance with a design prepared by a local firm of architects for which planning consent had been granted.
The client was seeking an economic procurement route, and we advised that a design and build contract would be most appropriate.
The building process was challenging due to site constraints which included retaining a functioning Sea Cadets unit on site while the existing premises were demolished and the new premises built, on poor ground which included contaminated soil and was subject to flooding, and was adjacent to the Exe Estuary, an SSI, the tidal waters of which adjoin one side of the site.
Following the tender process, the project was undertaken by a local contractor working collaboratively with this charitable organisation with ourselves as the contract administrator to complete the building to the satisfaction of the client.
